Osiris - the god of the Underworld
Osiris was the first son of Geb and Nut and the brother of Set, Horus, Isis and Nephthys. Osiris was considered to be the king of the underworld, and is the only deity who is referred to simply as "god". Osiris was also in charge of the ceremony called "weighing of the heart", in which a dead person's soul is weighed against the feather of Ma'at, otherwise known as the feather of truth. If the heart is lighter than the feather, then the soul can pass on to the underworld. However, if it is heavier, it is thrown to Amenti, a god with the head of a crocodile, body of a leopard, and back of a rhinoceros.
Aset - The Mother of all Gods
Aset is one of the oldest goddesses of all time. The Aset cult was very popular around Egypt. Isis is her Greek name, but to many she was known as Aset, or (Ast, Iset, Uset). There is no one exact meaning to her name, there are many translations, and different ideas to what her name might mean. For example, Plutarch (A Greek historian) decided her name meant "Knowledge," but other people translate her name to mean "(Female) of flesh." This suggests that Aset was a mortal before she became the Queen of all gods. Although, there are many different meanings to the goddesses name, Aset, plays a powerful role in ancient Egypt. Aset (Isis) is the mother of Horus (falcon headed sky god). Also Aset is the daughter of Nut and Geb., the earth god, and sky god. Last but not least, this powerful goddess is the sister and wife of Osiris, the god of the Underworld.
